What Poshmark actually requires in 2026

2026 update: Poshmark's redesigned app now displays listing photos in portrait format (3:4) in the feed. Square (1:1) photos still work — Poshmark will display them with padding — but portrait photos fill more screen space and get more attention.

For portrait, use 1200×1600 pixels. For square, use 1200×1200 pixels. Both work. Photos below 800px on any side look soft on modern phone screens.

Your cover photo is what shows up in search results and the feed. It needs to be your strongest image — clear, well-lit, and showing the full item. Keep your item centered — thumbnails may still be cropped to square in some views.

What Poshmark does to your photos

Poshmark applies its own compression after upload. Heavy compression before uploading leads to visible artifacts — soft edges, color banding, blurry text on labels.

Upload at JPEG 85% quality for the best balance. Our tool handles this automatically.

Poshmark does not strip EXIF metadata. Your GPS coordinates, camera model, and timestamps stay in the file. For sellers photographing at home, this means your home address is embedded in every listing photo. Use our tool to strip all metadata before uploading.

Photo tips that increase sales

Use natural light. Photograph near a window during daytime. Avoid flash — it creates harsh shadows and washes out colors.

Show the item flat or on a model. Flat lays work best for most categories. Hanging items on a door often looks sloppy. If using a model, show front and back.

Use all 16 photo slots. Cover photo, detail shots (tags, fabric texture, measurements), any flaws, and styling inspiration. More photos = more buyer confidence.

Avoid stock photos. Poshmark's community expects authentic photos. Listings with stock images get flagged and may be removed.

Protecting your privacy on Poshmark

Every photo from your phone contains hidden metadata: GPS location, device model, exact timestamp. Poshmark keeps all of it.

A buyer can download your listing photo and extract your home address. This is especially concerning for home-based sellers.

This tool strips all EXIF data automatically. For a deeper look at which platforms strip metadata and which don't, see our seller photo privacy guide.
